The 2013 Grant Allen award for contributions to Canadian crime and mystery writing goes to Andrew Pyper, author of LOST GIRLS, THE GUARDIANS, and the forthcoming DEMONOLGIST). Andrew’s psychologically intense, and often frightening, fiction is perfectly complemented by our guest authors:
- Ian Hamilton, author of the award-winning Anna Lee series
- Janet Bolin, author of the delightfully cozy Threadville series
- Linda Wiken (aka Erika Chase) a members of last year’s Grant Allen winners, the Ladies Killing Circle, and author of the Asthon Corners Book Club Mysteries
- Gloria Ferris, whose first novel Cheat the Hangman, won the 2012 Bony Blythe Award for favourite light mystery
The Day:
If you have registered, you will be getting an e-mail with all the details of the day’s events a few weeks before. In the meantime, here is a rough schedule. Note that the ferry from Kingston leaves in the morning on the half-hour, and takes half an hour to arrive. Therefore if you want to be in time for the workshop that begins at 9, take the 8:30 ferry. 9 – 11: Optional Workshop (extra charge)
10 – 11: Meet the authors over coffee and muffins
11 – 12: Author readings or talk
12 – 1:30: Lunch at the United Church. Walk to Anglican Church for the afternoon. Explore the Grant Allen Collection at the library
1: 30 – 2:30: Author panel discussion
2: 30 – 3:00: break
3:00 – 4:00: Guest Lecture
4:00 – 5:15: Grant Allen award presentation, interview with Andrrew Pyper and readings
5:30 – 6:30: Church supper.
Books will be available for purchase throughout the day.
Optional Workshop
Barbara Fradkin will lead the workshop. Subject to be determined.
Join us for a day on bucolic Wolfe Island for author readings, a panel discussion, meet and greet breakfast, lunch, and our famous church supper as well as the award presentation and a guest lecturer on matters criminal.
